I am currently in the process of completely revamping my portfolio (this is the old design).

Nice to Meet You!

Why, hello there! Here's exactly what I like, what I do, and where I want to go.

My Interests

My interests list covers a rather large scope of fields. The hero image of this very website was designed to reflect this, with my four main interests spanning the entirety of the image. The size of the image meant that I had to prioritize the four interests and that's exactly what I did. Starting from left to right, are my largest and more in-depth interests; computer building, web development, astronomy and shipping. You can check the hero image out in full, here.

Other interests include biology, nature and wildlife, and video games.

Developing the Web

I've been developing websites ever since I started high school. Back then, my only tools were Microsoft Notepad, Internet Explorer 6 and a strong desire to teach myself the skills necessary for website creation. Fast-forward eight years and my skill set has increased tenfold, while my tool list has essentially remained the same.

What tools do I use? Currently, Adobe Photoshop, GIMP and Paint.NET for any web design, and both Notepad++ and Microsoft Notepad for any coding. Additionally, I have the latest version of all top five web browsers installed (Opera, Google Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari), as well as previous versions of Internet Explorer 5.5 to 10. By my side, I also have a variety of mobile devices and game consoles to ensure a pleasant experience on those systems as well.

I do understand the importance of a mobile-first, responsive approach to websites, and this is exactly what I implement into any web-based project that I create. I also make sure that I utilize JavaScript in a manor that won't deteriorate the user experience of those who have it disabled as best as I can, although sometimes this simply isn't possible as the web evolves with new features.

Building, Upgrading and Repairing Computers

Computers and the world of computing have always been a core interest of mine. There's never a dull moment where you're building, upgrading or fixing computers; the number of scenarios you can face are endless, and the infinite number of component combinations for custom-built computers makes building them an absolute joy.

I know my way around computers extremely well; whether you're talking about the headers on a motherboard, the cache built into a processor, or the embedded memory chips found inside a graphics card, the knowledge is there.

My Future

I believe I have my desired future laid out very well above. I'm currently looking to become employed by a business that will allow me to take my self-taught knowledge to new levels. Whether I'll be building, upgrading or repairing computers, or creating modern websites, it's all good from here.
